PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of an automatic vending machine which changes the display contents of the price display and cold/hot distinction display of an article and the operation state of the automatic vending machine, for every column, associatively with the operation state of the automatic vending machine and the contents of operation by an operator. SOLUTION: The display contents of display parts 41, 45, and 47 which display at least the price display and cold/hot distinction display of the article and the operation state (not ready, in warming or cooling, etc.), of the automatic vending machine are changed, for every column, associatively with the operation state of the automatic vending machine and the contents of operation by the operator, so the display contents can easily and speedily be changed for every column. Consequently, article samples 5 can be displayed and laid out by categories of articles (coffee drink, juice drink, etc.), irrelevantly to the cold/hot distinctions of the articles and the degree of freedom of the layout can be increased.
