The fired brick for walls, and especially with hollow openings, has hollow chambers (2) containing inserts (5) of waterproof cardboard or plastics with a metallic cladding. Each insert is formed as a plate (7) with a metal layer (8) as a deposited cladding on one side. The inserts are at least at a butting side of the brick, extending to the level of the mortar. The inserts are held in place by an adhesive (9).
