PURPOSE: A device and a method for transmitting and receiving additional information of a TV are provided to interlink with broadcasting video by performing appropriate communication with the Internet through VBI(Vertical Blanking Interval) data, so as to provide users with information on a predetermined object displayed on a screen. CONSTITUTION: In a transmission unit(110), a digital information inserter(120) inserts digital information in a VBI block. A product information management server(130) analyzes predetermined broadcasting information inputted through an Internet network(140) to make a digital information table, and transmits the digital information written in the corresponding table to the digital information inserter(120), according to results of comparing broadcasting time information written in the digital information table with current time. A first mixer(150) mixes VBI signals from the digital information inserter(120) with predetermined broadcasting signals. A channel converter(160) converts the mixed signals into broadcasting channel signals. A first amplifier(170) amplifies the converted signals to a predetermined level. A transmission antenna(180) transmits the amplified signals to each household. In a receiving unit(200), a digital information decoder(240) slices VBI signals from video signals from a tuner/intermediate frequency detector(220), for the restoration to digital information. An OSD generator(300) generates a figure shape to indicate a displayed object. An Internet module(280) detects Internet data corresponding to a predetermined URL(Uniform Resource Location) value through an Internet network(290). A controller(260) controls the OSD generator(300) to generate appropriate OSD signals, and controls the Internet module(280) to display the Internet data corresponding to a selected object. And a switching unit(310) switches the video signals mixed in a second mixer(250) or the Internet data output from the Internet module(280), according to a predetermined control signal of the controller(260).
