The key comprises a body (22) and a web (30) which rotates on the body between use and stored positions. The mechanical module (26) comprises a pivoting support (28) carrying the web and has a housing (34) for a pivot (36) and a control button (38). These are spring returned to be separated from each other by a compression spring (40). The pivot is moveable between a retracted position in the housing for installing the module in the key body, and a projecting position outside the housing for the coupling of the module in the key body. The module comprises a pivot retaining stop (46) projecting transversely (44) releasable by pressure on the control button against the return spring force.
