The method involves using a control wheel (1) with a force-moment sensor. A force or moment applied by hand to the sensor produces an impulse that is detected by the sensor and converted from force and moment vectors to a vector pair. The vector pair is checked to see if certain impulse processes are fulfilled and if so a technical control operation is carried out according to the detected vector pair. An Independent claim is included for a control wheel for execution of the above process and for use of the wheel.
