PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a magnetic recording medium that can realize a magnetic and electromagnetic transducing characteristics equivalent to a magnetic recording medium using an aluminum substrate, by laminating various layers on an insulating substrate by a bias spatter method. SOLUTION: In manufacturing method of magnetic recording medium by laminating at least a non-magnetic bed layer, n intermediate layer, a magnetic layer, a protection layer and a liquid lubricant layer successively on a non- magnetic substrate, the manufacturing method of a magnetic recording medium is characterized by laminating at least selected from the group consisting of the non-magnetic bed layer, the intermediate layer, the magnetic layer and the protection film by using a magnetron spattering method that impresses a bias on one layer using a grid material and does not impress voltage directly to the non magnetic substrate.
