PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device preventing the reduction of contrast and an afterimage phenomenon due to charge-up to a color layer and to provide its manufacturing method. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display device in a first implementation form is constituted of a first polarizing plate 1, a second polarizing plate 2, a CF glass terminal plate 3, a TFT glass terminal plate 4, a coloring layer 5, an electric field applying layer 6, a black matrix layer 7, the color layer 8, a liquid crystal layer 9, an over coating layer 10, a first orientation layer 11, a second orientation layer 12, a PA-SiN layer 13, a source electrode layer 14, a drain electrode layer 15, a n+asi layer 16, an asi layer 17, an insulation layer 18 and a gate electrode layer 19. Adverse influence on the liquid crystal layer can be reduced, since the flow of an electric charge moved in a transverse direction can be suppressed by performing the layout of the black matrix layer and a color filter (color layer) so that they are not overlapped on each other in a plane and filling the gap between the black matrix layer and the color filter with the high resistance layer.
