The present invention also relates to a method and composition for treating HCV and/or increasing the levels of IGF-1 of a patient in need thereof, the composition including at least one selected from the group including L-acetylcarnitine, L-isovalerylcarnitine, L-propionylcarnitine and pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof and mixtures thereof; and at least one selected from the group including L-carnitine, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E and Se-L-methionine and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and derivatives thereof and mixtures thereof.
