PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically adjusting a system parameter and improving system performance even in the case that work loads on a computer system change. SOLUTION: By one execution example of this invention, the method of automatically and finely adjusting the computer system parameter, comparing long-term performance change related to it and setting the parameter to a value for improving the system performance is provided. A time frame for averaging the change of the system parameter and the relating system performance change is adjustable and evaluation is performed over a short period or a long period considered as being appropriate. As the objective measure of the system performance, in the case of the system of a transaction base, for instance, average system response time for given demands to the system can be used. In the case of the system for performing batch type word loads, system throughput can be used as the one for indicating how excellent the system performance is. |
