A core rod (1) is pre-coated with a cover material and then an injection mold is closed around the coated rod for injection of a material to mold a screen (2) onto the rod. After solidification of the material the tool is opened and the rod moved forward to a position at which the next screen (3) is to be molded on. An Independent claim is made for the process plant which includes an applicator for the cover material and following this at least one injection mold (10a,10b,11a,11b,12a,12b,13a,13b) for molding screens (2,3,4,5,19,20,21,22) onto the rod (1). The mold halves are closed onto the rod for molding. A feeding system (16) moves the rod forward such that the injection mold lies opposite the position on the rod at which the next screen is to be molded.
