<p>Image data is converted to dot density data representing the dot formation density of each dot type in such a way that the image data is converted to data representing dot formation density of dots including a small dot and a large dot as small dot density data and to dot density data on dots including an intermediate dot and a large dot as intermediate dot density data. It is judged whether or not any small dots are present and whether or not any intermediate dots are present on the basis of the small dot density data and the intermediate dot density. If a small dot and an intermediate dot are formed superimposedly in the same pixel, it is judged that a large dot is to be formed in place of the small and intermediate dots. Thus because it can be quickly judged that a large dot is to be formed from the results of the judgment of presence of small and intermediate dots, image data can be quickly converted into data in the form of expression of whether or not any small, intermediate, and large dots are formed.</p> |
