PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk apparatus and a method of adjusting reproducing power, in which power margin of a laser beam can be obtained with clear both ends. SOLUTION: In the optical disk apparatus 200, an optical pickup 102 detects a magneto-optical signal from a magneto-optical recording medium 100 with a variety of power of the laser beam. The magneto-optical signal is processed with a reproduction process using reproduction circuits (BPF106-BCH decoder 112). A controller 114 determines the power of laser beam in which an error rate becomes minimum as provisional optimum power, on the basis of error rates inputted from the BHC decoder 112. The controller 114 varies the power again around the provisional optimum power, and determines a suitable range for laser beam power and a central value of the suitable range as the optimum power. |
