PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out high-quality recording having superior gradation characteristics even when recording characteristics change, e.g. when an ink density changes or the like. SOLUTION: In a recorder which carries out multi-gradation recording by changing kinds of ink to be used for recording and the number of ink drops, inputted data are converted to density data of each pixel in a recording region, and a target pixel is selected from the recording region (12). A correction process is carried out by estimating the ink density when the target pixel is to be recorded (13). A combination of the ink kind and the number of ink drops used when the target pixel is to be recorded is selected on the basis of density data of the target pixel from a corrected ink distribution table 4c (14). A recording density error is obtained (15), an error diffusion process is carried out (16) and driving signals to be transmitted to a recording head are generated. |
