PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve positional control with a simple production method and at a low cost by restricting a positional change and stably performing the positional control even in use of a position signal from encoder slits having a discontinued section in a belt carrying direction and even in presence of displacement between a leading end and a trailing end due to the slits attached on the belt. SOLUTION: When the intermediate transfer belt 2 is driven, feedback of the intermediate transfer belt 2 is controlled by using scales (slits) 8 of the intermediate transfer belt 2 in the range not including the discontinued section between the scales (slits) 8 are not included. Also, feedforward of the intermediate transfer belt 2 is controlled in the range including the discontinued section between the scales (slits) 8. |
