PROCESS FOR ESTIMATING RANDOM ERROR IN CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL ASSAYS

A method is disclosed for improving the reliability of physical measurements obtained from array hybridization studies performed on an array having a lar ge number of genomic samples including a replicate subset containing a small number of replicates insufficient for making precise and valid statistical inferences. An error in measurement of a sample is estimated by combining estimates obtained with individual samples in the replicate subset, and utilizing the estimated sample error as a standard for accepting or rejectin g the measurement of a sample under test.
