The invention relates to an insulating element (10) for insulating a contact area (3) of an electronic component (2) from other contact areas (4) of the component. In order to ensure an assembly that is as trouble-free as possible as well as a trouble-free operation, the invention provides that at least one first section (11), which is accommodated inside a contact recess (7) of a contact (5) during operation, is provided with an outer contour (11') that enables an accommodation with the utmost smallest amount of play inside the contact recess (7).
