PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable material which has superior sensitivity, suppresses fogging and also has superior raw stock preservability, to provide a heat developable material which suppresses fogging due to printout silver and the deterioration of maximum density after development and has superior image preservability and to provide a heat developable material with little residual color after development. SOLUTION: In the heat developable material with a photosensitive layer containing photosensitive silver halide grains, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder, and a layer adjacent to the photosensitive layer on one side of a base and a backing layer and a backing protective layer on the other side of the base, 1H-indazole having substituents on the 4- to 7-positoins (the substituents are not nitro groups) is contained in the photosensitive layer or the layer adjacent to the photosensitive layer.
