PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method for a substance that can be an effective component of a prophylactic or a remedy for a neurodegenerative disease. SOLUTION: In this screening method for the substance to be the effective component of the prophylactic or remedy for the neurodegenerative disease caused by the bond of abnormal protein and a valosine-containing protein(VCP) abnormal protein, the valosine-containing protein and candidate substance are made to coexist, and a substance impeding the bond of the abnormal protein and the valosine-containing protein is specified as the effective component of the prohylactic or remedy for the neurodegenerative disease.
