PURPOSE: A power failure time calculating circuit for a microwave oven is provided to compensate cooking hours accurately, and to cook optimally by calculating power failure time with discharge voltage in cutting off power and discharge voltage in supplying power again. CONSTITUTION: A power failure time calculating circuit of a microwave oven comprises a charge/discharge circuit charging voltage in supplying power and discharging in cutting off power; an EEPROM(Electronic Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory)(15) storing charge voltage at shutting off power and discharge voltage of the charge/discharge circuit at re-supplying power; and a control unit outputting power failure time based on charge and discharge voltage stored in the EEPROM. Data is preserved with EEPROM in cutting off power, and power failure time is calculated with storing discharge voltage in cutting off power and discharge voltage in supplying power again. Cooking hours are compensated precisely in cutting off power momentarily.
