PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water repelling device for an umbrella or the like in which water droplets at a wet umbrella are easily repelled and some troublesome states caused by brining the wet umbrella into a house in a rainy day are prevented. SOLUTION: A water repelling device 1 for an umbrella or the like is comprised of a passage 3 held by at least two sidewalls 13a, 13b; an umbrella detecting sensor 15 for sensing presence or non-presence of an umbrella 4, shoes or the like put into the passage 3; a blower 12 arranged at an inlet 5 of the passage 3 and for blowing air to the passage 3 when the umrella 4, shoes or the like are detected; and a water absorbing cloth 36 arranged at the passage 3 of a rear part of the blower 12 to absorb water while being contacted with the umrella 4, shoes or the like.
