PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer which records at high speeds by concurrently executing a maintenance process such as wiping and recording. SOLUTION: A head module 41 of the ink jet printer has a rotary shaft 43 fixed to both end faces of short sides of a substrate 23 and is supported to be alternately rotatable half as indicated by an arrow F to a frame of a printer body. While one printing head 40a prints at a recording position to a paper 42 transferred in a vertical scanning direction of an arrow E, the other printing head 40b is primed and wiped by a maintenance unit 44 at a maintenance position, and then capped to rest. The head module 41 is rotated half by every predetermined period to positionally interchange the printing heads 40a and 40b, so that recording and maintenance are alternately concurrently executed. |
