PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear that can appreciably suppress such a reduction in lubricant in an engagement part as results from the flow of lubricant applied to a tooth portion of the gear, with rotation of the gear, from an axial end of the gear to the outside of the tooth portion along the tooth profile of the gear, and an electric steering system that has the gear. SOLUTION: A worm 2 has a lubricant sump 2a and lubricant outlets 2b. An engagement part is replenished with a new lubricant substituting for the lubricant that flows, with rotation of the worm 2, from an axial end of the worm 2 to the outside of a tooth portion of the worm 2, by the centrifugal force that passes the new lubricant through the lubricant outlets 2b from the lubricant sump 2a. |
