PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear cover unit for a tiller in which a rear cover can be lifted up and locked there by one person. SOLUTION: A lock lever 56 which can locate the rear cover 26 at a specified descending position by operating a locking means 19 for locking a hanging rod 52 is placed on a top mast 16 of the rotary tiller 18, and an operation part 30 provided with a knob 29 for vertically rotating the rear cover 26 and an operation lever 33 which can operate the locking means 19 is placed on the backside of the rear cover 26. During the ordinary operation, the rear cover 26 can be located at the specified descending position by operating the lock lever 56 by manual operation form a driver seat to get an adequate tilling posture, and on the other hand, during the exchanging, washing and the like of tilling tines of the rotary tiller 18, the rear cover 26 can be locked at the position of a specified height as follows: an operator gets off the tiller, cuts off the operation lever 33 of the operation part 30 and rotates the rear cover 26 upward with the knob 29.
