PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact high-performance visual inspection device without separating a conveyor in an inspection position and to accurately convey inspected laver to the inspection position regardless of the difference in the production locations even when its dimension fluctuates slightly. SOLUTION: This laver visual inspection device is provided with a roller and a conveyor for the visual inspection moving forward while correcting an inclination or meandering of rectangular laver carried by the carrying conveyor in the conveyer advancing direction and a reflection plate arranged at the inspection position on the conveyor plane for optically inspecting appearance of both front and back faces of the laver forcibly fed on the conveyor, and the laver is passed over the reflection plate. To the inspection position, a lighting device including a visible ray and an infrared ray are arranged in the upper part, while a camera device receiving the visible ray and the infrared ray separately is arranged at a fixed angle to a light projecting and receiving face, and reflected light from a reflective foreign matter on the surface of the laver to be detected, a visible ray as direct reflected light from the reflection plate, and an infrared ray as transmitted light through the reflection plate are separately received by the camera device for performing a determination process. In this way, a part or the whole of the outline shape, cracks, holes, breakage, surface reflective foreign matter, surface foreign matter, inner face foreign matter, back face foreign matter and the like of the laver are inspected.
