PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light device for providing a display device where the entire device is miniaturized while the size of a display part is maintained. SOLUTION: A back light device 10 comprises a fluorescent tube 1 where non-light-emitting parts 1a are provided on both ends of a light-emitting part 1b, and a light guide plate 2 which is a square plate with its cross section being wedge-like. The light of the fluorescent tube 1 enters a light incidence surface 2a of one side end surface, higher one, among two square side end surfaces of the light guide plate 2 and emerges from a light emerging surface 2b, which is an upper surface. Here, the fluorescent tube 1 is bent at both ends to form an almost U-shape so that the non-light-emitting part 1a is parallel to two side end surfaces 2c, being almost wedge like, of the light guide plate 2. |
