PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light reflective substrate which does not substantially give rise to undulation in spite of chemical etching. SOLUTION: A glass substrate 21 which is manufactured by a floating process and is <=0.1 μm in substrate undulation W cm is used as the substrate for the liquid crystal display element of a reflection type or translucent type. This glass substrate 21 is subjected to chemical etching, by which a light diffusion surface 21a having fine ruggedness is formed. |
