PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having excellent heat resistance, having high decomposing catalytic activity with respect to a dioxin type harmful substance and a precursor thereof at a high temperature and usable at a high temperature. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst comprises a composite oxide containing at least one metal selected from Mg, Mn, Nb, Ta and group IIIa metals, and pentavalent V and, especially, the composite oxide preferably contains at least one of V2O5.2MnO, V2O5.2MgO, V2O5.Ln2O3 (Ln: group IIIa element), V2O5.9Nb2O5 and V2O5.9Ta2O5. |
