PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically enhance the abrasion resistance of the surface of the side plate of a rotor used in a vertical rotary centrifugal lump crushing apparatus. SOLUTION: When an abrasion-resistant metal is applied to the surface of the side plate 12 of the rotor 10 by weld padding, a placing material 20 the abrasion resistance of which is more excellent than that of a welding wire 30 is placed on the surface of the side plate 12 and weld padding is applied to the surface of the side plate 12 from the upside of the placing material 20. The placing material 20 is melted and the build-up hardened metal is thickened by the chemical components of the placing material to be enhanced in its abrasion resistance.
