PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of automatically discriminating whether a tool breaks or not and performing an adequate machining process without breaking the tool even for micro cutting load or low tool strength. SOLUTION: This machine tool comprises the machining tool 2 (a drill or the like with an apertureϕnot more than 2 mm), a camera 10 (an artificial retina chip or the like) for photographing an image of the tool 2, and an image processing calculating part 11 for discriminating whether the tool 2 breaks or not based on the image photographed by the camera 10.
