The fixers (13,15,16) and keys (14) of the deposit boxes (8) are so arranged that the key can only be removed from the box front (11) when the box (8) is secured to the safe compartment (2) wall (4). The front wall of the removable box (8) is so close to the inside of the compartment door (3) that the door cannot be closed when the key is in the front box wall. Signalling devices (22) signal that the compartment door is closed with the box secured inside. The compartment post (4a) takes the electrically operated electronically protected bolts so as to issue a signal when an unauthorized person tries to open the door.
