The acoustic lining consists of a rigid plaster panel fixed to the inner surface of a wall (1) by fastenings (3) which leave a gap that can be filled with a layer (21) of a compressible synthetic foam. the foam is of an open-celled viscoelastic material with a dynamic acoustic elasticity modulus of less than 100 kPa and a damping capacity of over 50 per cent, and is applied to the facing surfaces of the wall and lining panel with little or no compression.
