PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the seal material which can be used effectively even in a section to seal the fluid that easily penetrates through rubber material, such as carbon dioxide and the like, and can improve the easiness of connecting pipes, reliability, the easiness of maintenance and vibration resistance. SOLUTION: For a seal material 1 that uses rubber material having such character as is penetrated by a fluid which is going to seal, a penetration resisting material 4, which prevents the fluid from penetrating, is embedded with a width in the different direction from a direction which the fluid penetrates. In the case that seal material 1 is formed into a ring shape and prevents the fluid from leaking to the axial direction of this ring, that is, in the case that it is a sealant for axial seal, the penetration resisting material 4 is embedded with a width towards a radial direction of the ring. In case the that the seal material is a sealant which prevents a fluid from leaking to a radial direction of the ring, that is, in the case that it is a sealant for sealing a flat surface, the penetration preventing material is embedded with a width in the axial direction of the ring.
