PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that realizes image processing proper to a feature of a composited image resulting from compositing read image data with an image interpreting a command group in cross-reference with respective components of the image data with a decreased processing time. SOLUTION: The image processing unit of this invention to solve the task above is characterized in the provision of a read means that generates color image data obtained by reading an original, a generating means that generates flag data denoting a feature of the image corresponding to the color image from the color image data, an entry means that enters image data expressed by a command group corresponding to respective components of the image, a command interpreting means that generates a bit map image on the basis of the commands, an image composition means that composites the color image data with the bit map image, and an attribute flag composition means that composites attribute information of the command group with the flag data.
