摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regenerative brake that is light-weight, in spite of having a large braking force. SOLUTION: This regenerative brake 1 is provided with a brake disc 10 and a pair of stators 20 to perform regenerative braking. When this brake is used, the heat generated in the brake disc 10 is reduced, because a part of the kinetic energy of a railway car is regenerated by the generation in the tertiary circuit of its power supply side, when the brake is applied, and consequently the amount of energy converted into heat energy is decreased. Compared with the conventional regenerative brake, the use of this brake enables the disc 10 to be made thinner and makes a cooling device such as a fan unnecessary. As a result, the small size and light-weight brake, having a large braking force can be constituted using this brake 1.
