PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To delay the advance of abrasion of an abutting member abutting on a belt and prevent a gap produced between the belt and the abutting member in a dropping preventing device for preventing a transported article from being dropped on both sides of a belt conveyer. SOLUTION: A side frame 2a of the belt conveyer 1 is provided with a skirt member 11 for covering the upper side of the side of the belt conveyer 1 to be freely turned up and down, the inner end parts of both right and left skirt members 11 are provided with abutting members 15 abutting on the side parts of the belt 5 from above them. Springs 19a for pressing the abutting members 15 to the top face of the belt 5 are provided, and nylon as high polymer material having low coefficient of friction is used for the abutting members 15.
