PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which can compensate for a defect that is caused by a conventional defect management or the alternation processing. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium can record and reproduce data by means of a laser beam and has a defect management prevent flag that is previously recorded in the prescribed area of a read-in area to show whether a defect management or the alternation processing is needed or not.
