The method involves passing the wash items through a rotating driven drum and at least partly wet treating it in the drum with a heated liquid. The liquid is heated with steam flowing through a nozzle (37). The liquid is heated solely by an injection of steam. The liquid can be heated by the steam in a region, especially a base region, of an outer drum enclosing the drum.
