PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a hydrogen-storing alloy for electrode used in a hydrogen- storing alloy electrode and this hydrogen-storing alloy electrode so as to provide an alkaline storage battery with excellent large current-discharging characteristics and charge/discharge cycle characteristics. SOLUTION: For the hydrogen-storing alloy for electrode, a coating layer containing at least one metal selected from among nickel and cobalt and carbon particles is formed on the surfaces of hydrogen-storing alloy particles. For the hydrogen-storing alloy electrode 2, a coating layer containing at least one metal selected from among nickel and cobalt and carbon particles is formed on the surface of an electrode with an electrode material making use of hydrogen-storing alloy particles attached to a current collector.
