PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely classify a black pixel in the color smeared part of a black edge into an achromatic color pixel without erroneously classifying a pixel of a dot area with low saturation into an achromatic color pixel. SOLUTION: A first decision part 2 performs classification by chromatic/ achromatic color by the average saturation of a small area with a pixel under consideration as a center. When a second decision part 3 judges that a black area locally exists in the small area with the pixel under consideration as a center and that the black area exists within a prescribed area with the pixel under consideration as a center in addition to the existence of a white area by opposing to the black area, a classification result deciding part 4 decides the pixel under consideration as the achromatic color. In the other cases, the part 4 outputs the classification result of the first judging part 2 as the classification result of the pixel under consideration as it is. |
