PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform repairing works in conformity to the same restitution guidance. SOLUTION: This remote monitoring and maintenance system is equipped with a remote system 2 and a center system 4. The remote system 2 controls the operation of the apparatus, stores the operating data when the apparatus is in operation in an operating data storage unit 112, and senses trouble occurrence on the basis of the operating data and the reference data. When any trouble occurrence is sensed, the operating data, restitution guidance, and trouble occurrence notification are transmitted to the center system 4, while the operating data and restitution guidance are displayed in a remote display unit 108. The center system 4 works in response to received trouble occurrence notification and displays the restitution guidance and operating data transmitted from the remote system 2 in a center display unit 140. Thereby the technicians on the center system side and those on the remote system side work in cooperation in conformity to the same restitution guidance for repairing the troubled apparatus 10.
