The invention concerns a method which consists in, after ceasing to spray the coating fluid, in sucking up the residual coating fluid contained in the conduit (3) connecting the colour changing unit (2) to the spray-gun or sprayer (4), inside a reservoir (20) adjacent to a colour changing unit (2), then in driving back the coating fluid contained in the reservoir (20) to the colour changing unit (2) and the conduit (5) emerging inside the unit and corresponding to colour of the selected coating fluid.
