Sampling tube having a transponder

A sampling device comprises an elongate tube 2 and a transponder 10 which is removably attached to the tube 2 by means of a clip 14,16. The transponder 10 may be removed from the tube 2 prior to analysis and/or replaced between successive sampling operations. Utility may be in atmospheric sampling where the tube contains an adsorbent. The transponder serves as an identifier for the tube on analysis.
