A method and apparatus for communicating among a network of servers

Described are a method and apparatus for communicating between servers. A multi-server system includes a first server and a second server. The first server has a first plurality of subsystems and an event bus associated with the first plurality of subsystems. The event bus includes an event delivery object having a dispatch table and a transport mechanism associated with the event delivery object. The second server has a second plurality of subsystems. One of the first plurality of subsystems communicates with one of the second plurality of subsystems by transmitting events. The event delivery object receives an even from a source subsystem and delivers the received event to the transport mechanism and/or to a target subsystem based on an entry in the dispatch table. A local event has as its target another of the first plurality of subsystems. A remote event has as its target one of the second plurality of subsystems. The event bus delivers local events to the target subsystem and remote events to a transport mechanism. The transport mechanism transmits remote events to the remote target subsystem using TCP/IP.
