PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a device for forming an array of micro cavities on the surface of a workpiece. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a laser generating beams of laser beam pulses, a means dividing the beam of laser light pulses into a plurality of beams, and a lens system enlarging a plurality of beams at a magnification less than 1 and condensing these beams onto the surface of a work piece to remove materials from the work piece forming a micro cavity array.
