PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transverse flute which can produce pleasant bright timbre which was not possible with the conventional transverse flutes. SOLUTION: Ceramics and glaze are incorporated into the material of the transverse flute and the inside surface, mouthpiece and flanks of finger holes of the transverse flute are fired at a temperature higher than the temperature of biscuit without causing vitrification.
