<p>An apparatus for electrodischarge machining comprises storage means (13) storing a database that contains a plurality of sets of machining condition data. The apparatus comprises input/output means (14) for reading shape data that indicate the shape of a tool electrode (9) or the intended shape of a workpiece (W); processing means (15) for extracting a plurality of sections from the shape data, dividing these sections into meshes, providing the divided elements with solid or blank mesh data, and extracting features of the shape from these mesh data; and means (12) for selecting machining conditions by correspondence of the features of the shape with the machining condition data in the condition database held by the storage means (13). Appropriate machining conditions can be set for a complex shape, thus allowing more efficient machining.</p> |
