PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throat plate for a sewing machine with which the work to perform sewing of a material to be sewn may be continuously carried out and which may be supported to a desired sewing state. SOLUTION: When a fabric A is fed between the opposite spacings of the throat plate 10 and a pressure foot 43, a supporting part 34 of a receiving plate 30 is downwardly elastically displaced and is parted to a spacing to permit the feeding-in of the fabric A, by which the occurrence of packering in the fabric A is prevented. While the fabric A is regulated to a prescribed sewing width by a fabric guide 35 disposed at the throat plate 10 for center sewing, the fabric is supplied to a needle location position B of the throat plate 10 and is sewn. While the fabric A is lapped to a triple lapping state by a triple lapping guide 37 disposed at the throat plate 10 for triple lapping, the fabric is supplied to the needle location position B of the throat plate 10 and is sewn.
