PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional print processor in a serial printer, e.g. an ink jet printer, that when different data is printed continuously using cut recording sheets, sheet feed operation, print operation in the main scanning direction, and sheet feed operation in the sub-scanning direction must be repeated on the same sheet until an unprintable region is confirmed based on absence of data and thereby throughput of the print processor can not be enhanced. SOLUTION: In an apparatus performing print processing by combining print operation in the main scanning direction and sheet feed operation in the sub- scanning direction, a mechanism for enabling to feed next sheet while feeding a preceding sheet is provided along with means for altering the sheet feed conditions and adjusting overlap quantity of sheets.
