A document transmission apparatus is provided that includes a print document manager that stores a document to be printed in association with an e-mail address of a cellular phone. When the document to be printed is stored in the print document manager, a mail transmitter transmits a print notification message to the e-mail address of the cellular phone. The print notification message indicates that the document to be printed is present. A print instruction acquirer acquires print instruction information from the cellular phone that receives the print notification message. A document transmitter transmits the document to be printed to a print destination designated in accordance with the print instruction information acquired by the print instruction acquirer.
