<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a styrene monomer to be recovered from a polystyrene resin in a high yield. SOLUTION: Styrene monomer is obtained by dissolving a polystyrene resin in a solvent mainly comprising a styrene monomer, mixing the resultant solution with heated steam, supplying the mixture to a decomposition vessel containing a catalyst placed therein, and thus decomposing the resin in the vessel.</p> |
